If you have never been to counseling or "therapy," you should know that it is very common to feel a wide range of emotions before, during and between sessions, which usually last about 50 minutes. Emotions may range from relief and happiness to sadness, frustration, or even anger. Most people experience some nervousness before the first session, and wonder what they will be asked, how much they'll get to tell, or if they will become emotional or upset during the session, not to mention if they will like and feel comfortable with the therapist. These are all normal reactions. I know it may seem uncomfortable to talk with someone you don't know about your personal life, but many times it can help to organize your thoughts and feelings by talking with someone objective in a safe and supportive setting. It can also help to share your story so you don't feel like you are in it alone. I will guide you at your own pace and help you work towards reaching your life goals!
